Our Story

Lady In Lace, a southern tradition for Tuscaloosa brides since 1987, was recently purchased and renovated by Tuscaloosa native Betty Quarles, former Executive Director and costumer of Tuscaloosa Community Dancers, and a former costumer for The Alabama Ballet.  Quarles, a recent widow to the late Ronnie Quarles who was a local radio and television personality and executive, along with her family, are the recipients of a total of four Druid Arts Awards.  Betty Quarles, with many years of experience creating costumes for performances and other events, is a welcomed addition to Lady In Lace. She is joined by longtime Tuscaloosa resident, Pamela Hisey, former development officer for The University of Alabama Museums and community volunteer.  Quarles and Hisey have filled the store with many top designers and intend to strengthen the business’s ability to deliver perfect fitting garments, custom dresses and one of a kind items. The business is a true family run enterprise with the Quarles daughters, son-in-laws, sister Alice Smith and Hisey’s husband, John, helping with buying, designing, marketing, and public relations. The boutique is keeping tradition through the presence of Tuscaloosa’s favorite bridal consultant, Rochelle Barton, who has been with Lady In Lace for over 20 years.

Lady In Lace opens its doors to introduce the community to their new lines and services. Quarles and Hisey will offer the brides of West Alabama a beautiful, full service bridal boutique.
